i think this is awesome. truly. but i also think it's kind of weird that you release your sigils. but it's probably also strange that i either rub mine out or destroy them after about 5-15 minutes of use. do you see yourself as teaching others how to create them or to have them accept their inherent beauty...? i guess i am just curious as to your motivations.

I think of them as having facing two ways, one toward magick, the other toward visual art. The magick part is more private; I don't publish the wishes and desires embedded in the sigils. But they are also intended as abstractions that utilize an occult technique to arrive at a form. This part is public, and is why I share them here and in shows and what not. There are plenty of folks who have combined sigils with their art. Grant Morrisson, Scott Treleaven, to name two. Lastly, I think it is ultimately up to each of us to adapt ideas and techniques to our own visions of what magick is or should be. I make up my own rules.

that's a great answer. and i agree whole-heartedly. i just approach it different. if you will, quick follow-up. what's your opinion on others using yr sigils for (and i don't mean to sound rude by requoting you) their own wishes and desires? what do think the impact is on yr own?

sorry if this sounds like journalism but... i find it interesting. so you know.

I wouldn't imagine that anyone would do that. How would they access the wish or desire embedded in the emblem. On the other hand, I've thought of putting sigils out in the world and asking others to charge them, but haven't done it yet. The desired result would have to be of value to others in a significant way. One sigil I made I do want others to use, though. It is not really a sigil proper. The 12 labors sigil (or anal swastika) is one I created to fortify other sigils. On its own, it invokes obstacles to be overcome in the service of gaining experience and building psychic muscle.
